Medical Assistant Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. Responsibilities include: Obtaining patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and preparing the patient for a physical exam Explaining prescribed procedures and treatments to patients Ensuring all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner Administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure Drawing blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Performing laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions Responding to all lab messages and call back requests Performing all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations Ensuring patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure Conducting physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis Preparing exam rooms; sterilizing instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintaining complete and accurate documentation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications include an Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
