The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the operation of a building's mechanical and utility systems. This position checks the operation of all installed machinery and safety equipment periodically as programmed, as well as inspects areas of buildings for personnel and patient protection (fire, safety, and security) and recommends corrections. The Maintenance Engineer makes emergency repairs of equipment or apparatus as required, installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs mechanical and fixed equipment as directed, and carries out preventive maintenance programs. Essential Functions The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned. Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication, and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Must perform all duties and responsibilities following the Service Standards of the Hospital(s). Assists in major and minor utility shutdown requested by various departments, outside contractors, and in-house shops. Complies with all hospital standards and policies with a focus on safety, license requirements, smoking, attendance, and training. Installs new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixtures following applicable building codes. Maintains and repairs various equipment used in the hospitals, including kitchen equipment, patient-related equipment, various systems, and multifunction machines. Operates various machine tools (Lathe, drill press, power saw, hydraulic press, etc.). Performs equipment preventative maintenance. Performs routine inspections of building machines, noting deficiencies, and initiates repairs. As appropriate, responds to customer requests to address environmental deficiencies. Performs welding, brazing, and soldering following recognized and accepted standards and practices. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience:

Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility. Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair. Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid-salary range.
