JOB SUMMARY:
Full Time Split Shift 5am-1pm/12pm-8pm
The Cook is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and facility policies and procedures; and to ensure that quality food service is always provided.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
To perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
•Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing and in accordance with medically appropriate portion control.
•Review menus prior to preparation of food and inspect special diet trays to ensure accurate preparation.
•Complete forms and reports to document dietary procedures.
•Report disrepair of dietary equipment.
•Assist in establishing food service production lines, etc. to ensure that meals are prepared on time.
•Assist in and/or direct scheduled cleaning duties.
•Participate in and assist with departmental studies and projects as assigned.
•Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precaution policies when performing daily tasks.
•Wear protective clothing and devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste and/or blood or body fluids.
•Report complaints and grievances to supervisor.
•Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Recognize and respond to dietary emergencies and report observations.
•Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately in all situations.
•Participate in on-going educational programs related to the job.
•Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and facility business.
•Successful completion of required training
•Handle multiple priorities effectively
Required Computer Software/Equipment used:
•Various operating systems
•Standard office equipment
•Microsoft Suite applications
•Desktop, laptop and/or iPad
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Education:
o Minimum of tenth (10th) grade education
•Experience:
o Long term care experience strongly preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
•Does not have supervisory responsibilities
•Supervisor frequently determines priorities
•Occasionally needs manager's direction
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Audio-Visual: Good
•Hearing:Good
•Ability to lift to 40 pounds
•Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling ,use of hands
•Work is typically performed in a standard long-term care environment; well-lit; comfortable temperature-controlled
•Above-average conversational noise is frequent
•Position may require flexible hours, unscheduled overtime or occasional week-end work
•Travel may be required
