CLERK

JOB TITLE: Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:
The Dinuba Unified School District Clerk is under the direction of the site administrator and performs a wide variety of routine clerical duties with the close supervision of the principal's secretary. The clerk will be committed to cultivating excellence at the school site.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience):
Any combination of training and experience, which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to be successful in this position. The clerk will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one year clerical experience. Possession of valid CPR and First Aide certification is required.

Knowledge of District policies and procedures as they apply. Methods and practices of office management involving data processing and other computer equipment; operation of standard office equipment; formats and procedures for entering and retrieving various types of data; record keeping techniques; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; oral and written communication skills; report formats and deadlines; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; general first aide techniques and applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.

The ability to operate office equipment and to enter data; review, code, check and enter data on a computer; type at least 45 words net per minute from clear copy; perform health related duties; verify accuracy and completeness of documents and process data; compile, maintain and submit accurate and complete records and reports; read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; perform clerical duties such as filing, word processing and maintaining records; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others; work confidentially; meet schedules and deadlines; plan and organize work; speak and understand Spanish is preferred and pass the minimum proficiency test administered by the District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION:
1. Perform a wide variety of routine work including filing, keyboarding and proofreading.
2. Review, check, correct and compile a variety of information.
3. Verify data for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established procedures.
4. Input and retrieve computerized data in computer systems.
5. Prepare and maintain a variety of records, logs and files.
6. Maintain confidentiality of information and records.
7. Operate all office equipment.
8. Assist in filling out forms.
9. Make arrangements for health testing and maintains student health records.
10. Act as receptionist, answer phones and take messages.
11. Prepare, post and file general student records.
12. Perform a variety of health related duties (i.e. first aide)
13. Compile Health Services Data for required reports.
14. Perform related duties as assigned by the site administrator or District Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned duties and responsibilities of this job description are the following essential physical requirements:

1 Seldom = Less than 25% 3 Often = 51-75%
2 Occasional = 25-50% 4 Very Frequent = 76% and above

4 Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
2 Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
4 Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students.
4 Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
4 Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
1 Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop, run and crawl.
2 Ability to reach in all directions.
1 Ability to lift 50 pounds.
1 Ability to carry 25 pounds.
4 Ability to operate office equipment.

Requirements / Qualifications

(The District is in the process of gathering a pool of clerks for subbing in the District for the school year.)

Qualifications:
1. Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of GED required.
2. Two years of clerical experience required and accounting experience is preferred.
3. Strong working knowledge of software and technology-specifically around web technology, financial system integration, Microsoft and Excel a strong plus.
4. Knowledge of record keeping techniques; ability to perform clerical duties such as filing, duplication, keyboarding and maintaining records.
5. Must assist with workflow for a high volume customer-service oriented office.
6. Work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines
7. Possession of a Valid CPR & First Aid certificates and a valid California driver's license.
