**Description**
***Primary Summary:***
The YMCA focus is to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned. Provides a quality experience to members and guests focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
This position must be available to drive Monday-Friday in the morning and afternoon. Routes will include providing transportation daily to and from the Hoover and Greystone YMCAs to the Pelham YMCA. Buses will leave each morning at 8am and campers will return by 4:30pm. Typical hours will be 7am-9am and 4:00pm-6:00pm.
***Essential Functions:***
* Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
* Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
* Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.

* Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
* Develops friendly and positive relationships with all constituents to include, but not limited to: staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
* Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
* Attends all staff meetings and required training programs.
* Other duties and responsibilities assigned.
***Minimum Requirements:***
* Minimum one year work experience as a school bus driver preferred.
* Possess valid appropriate class license with passenger endorsement
* Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
* Desire and ability to work with children.
* Successful completion of background screening
* Acquire and maintain the following certifications within 30 days of hire via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI):
+ First Aid/CPR /AED (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
* Requisite Cypherworx Online Training Modules (completed prior to start date and repeated annually).
***Physical Demands:***
* Ability to safely drive a bus for long periods of time.
* Ability to respond to emergency situations.
* Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
* Ability to be physically active to include, but not limited to lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, walking indoors/outdoors.
