Description

Performs semi-skilled work assisting with the operations of the park, maintaining park facilities, providing information to visitors, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Manager.

Examples of Duties

  1. Assists with the general operation of the park.
  2. Register campers in the park system.
  3. Provide the public with general park information.
  4. Performs maintenance on grounds and facilities.
  5. Manages sanitary facilities.
  6. Assists the Park Manager in implementing all park directives and policies; enforces County park ordinances.

Essential Qualifications

Less than a high school diploma or GED in parks and recreation, customer service, grounds and facilities repair and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license in the State of Wisconsin.

Thorough knowledge of County and department policies and procedures to include emergency and inclement weather policies; ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent projects; attention to detail and ability to effectively organize time and anticipate, plan and successfully respond to changing circumstances; knowledge of maintenance of grounds and facilities; ability to assist visitors with park information; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to operate and use standard office equipment; knowledge and ability to use standard office and position-specific software; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other departments and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and pushing or pulling and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to vibration and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
