Job purpose

The Counter/Retail Sales Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the counter/retail sales team to assure that work instructions and safe work procedures are followed. Is accountable for the profitable achievement of customer growth and satisfaction through exceptional service. Oversees the operations of counter sales and counter sales team from open till close and ensure that customers' needs are met on an efficient, timely basis. Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the counter associates to ensure sustainable performance within company, regulatory, and legal requirements. Manages all aspects of running an efficient counter/retail sales operation. Assign associates and assist the Branch Operations Manager with personnel needs as they arise.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage daily counter/retail operations so that all processes are in balance, all work instructions and safety protocols are completely followed every day.
    • Establish process procedures, measurement standards for each associate.
    • Deploy resources as appropriately needed to eliminate problem areas.
    • Assist customers at front counter and ensure any order errors are corrected
    • End of day run for cash drawer and processing paperwork per established procedures
    • Make hose/tube assembly precise to manufacturers procedure and customer orders
    • Maintain counter display - i.e., stocked, neat and dust free
    • Clean and maintain customer, counter, and hose shop areas
    • Perform required preventive maintenance on shop crimpers and equipment
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Associate Development to improve capabilities of the counter/retail team to achieve the company mission, vision, and objectives.
    • Hiring process are followed and given high priority until position is filled.
    • Performance management processes are followed up to and including termination.
    • Training strategy is developed including an implantation plan and followed to ensure continuous training and improvement for the counter team.
  • Continuous Improvement so that the efforts of team members will achieve the greatest overall impact on customer satisfaction and company results.
    • Identify deficiencies in performance from in house measurements, QIRs, customer complaints or observation.
    • Maintain regular ongoing team meetings to address the identified deficiencies, identify root causes, and corrective actions using QPIP or similar processes.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Shipping and Receiving with various tasks as necessary
  • Assist Salesperson/Customers and Team Members with special requests i.e., check stock, availability of parts, inventory control etc.
  • Participate in and assist branch teams with action plans, improvement projects or special requests from the Branch Operations Manager
  • Train team members on established processes and procedures
  • Train team members on product
Qualifications
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • Counter/Retail Sales experience
  • Motivated, mechanically inclined individual
  • Experience in hose or fluid power industry
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Motivated self-starter, team player, hands on mentor and coach
  • Detail oriented
  • PC proficiency with MS Office software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
  • Able to pass background/MVR screening
Working Conditions
  • May be required to work extended hours and weekends
  • Minimal climate-controlled environment
