Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Supervises the employees and activities of the dispatch center; and performs duties utilizing the materials and equipment of the emergency dispatcher service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Reviews work instructions for the area; interprets instructions for employees; and makes revisions as needed.
  • Oversees and ensures the maintenance of recordkeeping, work product quality and quality control in accordance with guidelines and directives.
  • Develops alternative strategies to address and resolve a variety of issues and problems.
  • Directs and/or participates in the development of goals and objectives of the work area; and makes recommendations for changes in policies, rules and regulations.
  • Serves as liaison with local, state and federal agencies on matters relating to emergency dispatch operations.
  • Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

6 months to 1 year of advanced study or training beyond high school equivalency, with 3 to 5 years related experience. Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions listed above can be substituted.

Advanced TCOLE tele communicator license
