Financial Close and Reporting

Prepare monthly accruals to be posted by the Finance team in preparation of monthly and annual U.S. GAAP financials. Investigate the general ledger details, budget details, reforecast details, source documents including invoices and POs to support the calculation of accruals each month.

Support the Controller and Finance Team with the month-end close process and procedures, gathering the necessary information from each business unit team to prepare accruals and variance comments and assigning review tasks to the general managers and finance managers.

Analyze budget vs. actuals each month to review for missed accruals and accrual adjustments as necessary.

Prepare monthly variance comments for YTD budget vs. actuals variances and projected YE budget vs. reforecasts. Providing analysis of the timing, permanence, and favorability of the variances.

Identify specific drivers of budget vs. actuals and budget vs. reforecast variances. Be prepared to speak to specific drivers.

Perform weekly cash flow forecasting in conjunction with the RFM and Controller. Compare the direct method 14-week cash flow forecast with the annual budgeted cash forecast (indirect method). Must understand how to reconcile the two methods.

Budget, Forecasting and Analysis

Support the Regional Finance Manager in preparing the annual budget by entering inputs from Regional Management Team/senior managers in the budget tool and tracking the status of open items that need to be submitted. Be proficient at preparing a three statement budget (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).

  • Prepare reforecasts throughout the year, analyzing YTD budget variances and changing assumptions. Collaborate with project managers to complete periodic reforecasts.
  • Prepare detailed variance comments on budget comparisons including budget vs. reforecast and year-over-year comparisons.
  • Prepare analytical reports for internal review as companion appendices to the final budget. This could be on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis and as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred not required.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in an accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis role with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis responsibilities.
  • Must have strong experience in the professional/consulting services industry
  • Having a hands-on work style with strong verbal-written communications skills is desired.
  • ERP software system management experience; having experience specifically with Deltek Vision is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Will work with all levels of management and teams.
  • Strong background in Microsoft Excel including experience using Vlookup functions, if functions, data validations, and pivot tables.
