About the Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Vacancy:

The Cloud and Infrastructure team at this company is a relatively new team which is looking to grow quickly. Many of the senior leadership come with impressive backgrounds having worked for the likes of Amazon, Cloudflare, Netflix etc. As the company expand their core infrastructure and integrate modern technologies, implementing IaC across all levels is important with Automation being crucial to all projects. As a result of this growth and modernisation, the company are looking for experienced Senior SREs to join their recently founded Site Reliability Group.

Decision making around the infrastructure

You will also:

Work with your team solving problems

Support and Optimise the Infrastructure programmatically

Work with your team to improve the overall availability, reliability, performance, and security of the infrastructure under control

Be hands-on writing code, solving problems, working collaboratively across teams

Develop a deep technical understanding of their systems

Some of the Core Tasks:

Metric establishment for decisions based on Data with a view to helping improve availability, reliability, and velocity

Application of SRE core tenets of measurement (SLI/SLO/SLA), eliminating toil, and reliability modelling

Building and maintenance and evolution of SLO and SLI Network/System/Application baselines

You will provide go/no go preplanning, verification/validation, and review of existing and new product/services. You will need to proactively analyse data and test the integrity of network/systems to ensure production applications and services are operating optimally. Working with internal customers as needed to troubleshoot and resolve business affecting issues. Escalations, incident response, RCA, and blameless postmortem. Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation.

Ideal Requirements for the Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Vacancy:

Several years working experience as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Experience with DevOps principles and concepts such as Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/Saltstack), CI/CD (Gitlab, Jenkins, Git), monitoring and visualization (Prometheus,Grafana)

Experience with containers and container management (Docker, Kubernetes)

Several years experience within a Cloud/Web/CDN Scale infrastructure

Python and Go. C/C++ would be nice

Expertise in Linux systems, Network Programming and Protocols TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS/SSL

Experience with BGP and Anycast routing is a plus

Experience with big data technologies such as NoSQL/RDBMS, Redis, ElasticSearch, Kafka

Experience analysing and building data telemetry, modelling, pipelines, UI visualization

Experience in developing software, troubleshooting, and monitoring large scale distributed systems

Implement software engineering best practices/standards and software development lifecycle

Working knowledge and experience of Agile software development methodologies

Outstanding collaboration and communication, and documentation skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally

BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
