The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer develops, implements, and maintains electrical apparatuses, instrumentation, and control systems. This role ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations and maintenance. Key Responsibilities:

Plan and prioritize electrical and instrumentation activities. Provide technical guidance and oversight for maintenance personnel and contractors. Ensure installations, inspections, calibrations, and repairs meet standards. Coordinate inventory and approve purchases of materials and equipment. Manage Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Training and Contractor Qualification Programs. Utilize CMMS and manage PM and Mechanical Integrity Programs. Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode Trend Analysis. Plan and manage shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital/expense projects. Identify opportunities to improve plant safety, cost reduction, and energy efficiency. Participate in HAZOP and PHA reviews. Support critical situations and participate in Responsible Care and Homeland Security initiatives. Develop, review, and implement SOPs. Serve as Incident Commander and Emergency Response Team Member. Provide 24/7 support and vacation coverage for peers. Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering preferred. Three to five years of chemical manufacturing experience and working knowledge of various topics including pH, flow, temperature, pressure, conductivity, electrical systems, VFD’s, PLC/DCS control methods, etc. Knowledge of industry standards (NFPA, ISA, API, NACE, ANSI, ASTM). Experience with CMMS, Maintenance Planning, PM Optimization, PdM Technologies, and RCFA. Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills. Proficient in MS Office applications. Licensed Electrician in Chicago is a plus. Experience in PSM/RMP facilities is a plus.
