Buyer / Planner

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for all tactical Supply Chain functions in support of the business unit, including demand validation, purchase order creation and management, delivery assurance, and quality. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure uninterrupted flow of material to support manufacturing and customer on-time delivery.
• Source product manufacturing and assembly from Engineering Drawings.
• Work closely between many groups such as quality, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Create Manufacturing Orders / Purchase Orders per demand and flow down of design and quality requirements.
• Expedite material as needed; negotiate and manage changes within the supply base through the Change Board process.
• Ensure inventory goals and objectives are met.
• Negotiate with suppliers as required for reschedules in support of inventory and business objectives.
• Negotiate with vendors for optimum pricing, quality & delivery.
• Assist in the Supplier Performance evaluation process.
• Negotiate with vendors for optimum pricing, quality & delivery.
• Consolidate vendor base to create stronger, more valued suppliers/partners.
• Assist with the inspection team concerning supplier communication and compliance.
• Direct and support department planning and purchasing team members to ensure the uninterrupted flow of acceptable materials to support manufacturing needs to enable cost-effective on-time delivery for customers.
• Support Quality and Engineering Department(s) on supplier rejections, returns, corrective actions, and any deviation and/or Material Review Board (MRB) efforts.
• Oversee manufacturing engineering efforts to ensure lean, well thought out and effective work instructions are in place for all manufactured assemblies.
• Liaise with Purchasing Team personnel to coordinate minimum needed stock levels for customer sale needs.
• Oversee any required product recall, notification letter, or service bulletin effort.

• Experience in the Manufacturing industry, Aviation preferred.
• Experience with developing, implementing, and managing supplier initiatives to include but not limited to Blanket Purchase Orders, Vendor Managed Inventory, and Supplier Kanban.
• Understanding of the Supply Chain Sales, Inventory, and Planning process and forecasting.
• Expertise in MRP systems, preferably Quantum with an understanding of procurement parameters.
• Experience in the identification of risks and development and management of mitigation plans.
• Understand the basic tools in project management (SOW, WBS, responsibility matrix, change management, resource management, scheduling) to follow up on supplier deliverables.
