We are looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our team of devoted caregivers. Within this role, you will work to assist patients to gain the skills they require in order to manage their specific diseases. You will be responsible for educating patients and families regarding nutritional and behavioral aspects of their care and conducting programs to work with community members. Caregivers should have prior experience in an ambulatory setting, diabetes self-management and weight loss education. Your primary duties will include: - Developing and implementing new approaches to care for diabetic patients, and those requiring weight loss interventions. - Planning and organizing educational classes. - Motivating patients to improve their nutritional health via follow-up appointments. The ideal future caregiver is someone who: - Has strong counseling and communication skills. - Can multitask in a stressful situation. - Works well in a close-knit, team-building environment. - Can provide empathy and compassion in a patient-centered environment. - Currently is a Registered Dietitian (RD), has a Dietitian License, and currently has a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate. May require development of a therapeutic plan for special patients.Evaluates the effectiveness and measures progress towards outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions utilizing assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethical values.Provides appropriate documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient's medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, plan, implementation, and progress toward municates with the medical team through interdisciplinary meetings, rounds, and medical conferences, and in cooperation with the food service staff, assures conformance to diet prescriptions.Assures that care delivered to each patient is in accordance with the state practice act and demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients' protected health information.Participates in nutrition research studies and communicates findings through reports, abstracts, presentations, and publication.Provides nutrition counseling for individuals and groups, and evaluates achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family. Provides appropriate follow up in accordance with the patients treatment goals, referring patients for outpatient counseling when needed.Serves as a resource to medical staff and allied health personnel on nutrition issues. Conducts inservices and educational presentations to hospital/department staff. Assists in the education of dietetic students and interns. Plans learning experiences.Maintains accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including information for scheduling and billing.Assists in developing and revising patient education materials, clinical forms, and protocols, as well as nutrition-related policies, procedures and goals.Supports and promotes the organization's infection control, safety, risk management, and customer/guest relation programs.Assists in achieving compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards, with other accrediting organizations, and with regulatory agency standards, including state and federal.Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings, task forces or projects, and participates in community projects and education as needed/assigned.Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention on attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and pletes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.Other duties as assignedEducation:Bachelors degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition or related area, from an accredited college. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.Certifications:Registered dietitian or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association. Currently licensed in the State of Ohio. If working as a specialist or coordinator of health-related program specialty certification required (if exists) or must be eligible to take plexity of Work:Maintains competencies specific to patient population prehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients public medical staff and physicians. Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units. Ability to counsel and educate others.
