SUMMARY

A PFA Analyst assists approximately 30 people a week who need to file a Protection from Abuse petition against their partner or family member.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promotes an inclusive and equitable culture where all people, including those from diverse racial/ethnic, gender identity, age ability/disability, religion and socioeconomic backgrounds feel they belong and can thrive;
  • The PFA Analyst will work with advocates from the Women's Center and Court Administration. They will take information from handwritten forms and type them up to make petitions, temporary court orders, and notices of hearings. After being typed, all paperwork must be cashiered and scanned. The PFA Analyst will direct petitioners to the next steps of the process and answer any questions or concerns they may have;
  • Temporary orders and notices of hearings are processed electronically to the State Central Repository after the order is signed. There are sheriff service forms as well as other court orders that will also be entered into the system. All of these documents are required to be entered into the Protection from Abuse Data system, the Prothonotary's filing system, and scanned to be viewed in the Prothonotary viewing system;
  • The PFA Analyst must also process all final, continued, stricken, amended, vacated and withdrawn orders returned to the Prothonotary by the weekly signing Judge. These processes consist of cashiering, scanning and verifying all of these orders to reflect correctly in the Prothonotary viewing system. These documents are to be done the same day they are received in the Prothonotary's office; they are time-sensitive documents;
  • Verification is done from the verification queue. There are approximately 500 codes that indexers must understand. The PFA Analyst must have the ability to analyze, decipher, and correct submitted documents in accordance with the PA Rules of Civil Court. All images will be verified accurately and quickly. It is the responsibility of the verifier to find and correct any mistakes made by the counter clerks as well as the scanning clerks. There are 1,000 to 1,500 documents per day. Information entered goes into the Prothonotary viewing system;
  • The PFA Analyst must understand computer imaging systems, use laser printers and copiers, and answer telephone questions;
  • The PFA Analyst must have the ability to communicate with attorneys, the public, and all court personnel. The PFA Analyst must be confidential, work well with co-workers, and work as a team;
  • The PFA Analyst will help with cashiering orders, rules, praecipes, entry and withdrawal of appearance as will sheriffs' documents as needed;
  • The PFA Analyst must possess a professional demeanor.
