Job Summary:

Brooks Construction seeks a highly responsible individual for the role of

Sales Estimator / Project Manager

in North Central Indiana. This person will be responsible for acquiring construction work through public and private opportunities and manage the construction process in the field in a cost-efficient manner. They will be responsible for having a thorough understanding of projects and be able to communicate the details of each project to the construction team members via verbal and written communication.

This individual will work closely with field superintendents to schedule assigned projects to ensure financial success of projects. Some responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, reviewing plans, scheduling, quality control, subcontractor management, analyzing drawings and specifications, soliciting subcontractor/vendor quotes, and preparing time, cost and labor estimates.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):
Project estimating, including thorough knowledge of all bidding documents, plans, specifications, and/or Owner requirements.
Manage the construction of projects, including being the main contact with the customer, both external and internal (field crews, Superintendents, etc.)
Manage the financial side of projects through all phases including aspects related to estimating, securing materials with vendors, subcontract management, change orders, and invoicing.
Analyze project performance during and after construction.
Maintain existing client relationships as well as maintain a positive relationship with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Actively search for new bid opportunities.
Attend after hour's business functions on a regular basis.
Actively participate in industry associations.

Requirements:

Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years' experience sales, estimating, and/or project management , or equivalent experience in other areas of the construction industry
Previous heavy highway/civil/horizontal construction experience is preferred.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related degree; or five (5) years equivalent experience in Heavy Highway Construction

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job may be considered.

Must possess high ethical standards and a dedicated commitment to safety
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
Experience in either project management or sales is required.
Must possess a high degree of accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
Strong skills in basic math and geometry.
Experience with Microsoft Office, and on-screen take-off software.
Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills including oral and written communications.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight time constraints.
Develop and maintain peer and customer partnerships
Fair, honest and straightforward in dealing with others
Use appropriate discretion and sensitivity to confidentiality
Thorough understanding of basic spreadsheet preparation
Proven analytical skills
Proven dependability, organization, problem solving and adaptability skills
Ability to work for long periods at an energetic pace with frequent interruptions
Must be a team player
Knowledge of road construction techniques with the ability to understand state and county specifications
Demonstrated ability to read and understand plans
Demonstrated strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision

Working Environment:
Individual will be working in an office and field environment (50/50)
Ability to work in adverse conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat or cold, water, mud, dust, etc.
Individual will be working with external customers (vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors, general contractors, customers, etc.)

and

internal customers (Foremen, Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, Accounting, etc.)
