SUMMARY: The senior associate director will be a vital partner with the assistant vice president for alumni engagement. The position will focus primarily on supporting alumni networks. The senior associate director will play a critical role in building and fostering professional and industry networks for alumni. This role will work with the assistant vice president to develop an engagement and communication strategy, focused on stewarding and fostering relationships with alumni and increasing the percent of alumni engaged and other key metrics. This position provides oversight and support to multiple alumni volunteers and networks and identifies new opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of alumni engagement. This role will also collaborate with team members and other departments to build relationships with alumni, students, staff, and faculty. This position entails direct management of volunteers, fiscal oversight of the program budget, and all facets related to the conceptualization of professional and industry networks for alumni. RESPONSIBILITIES: Alumni Networks

Strategic Planning With the assistant vice president, set the strategic vision and lead staff in developing and implementing shared strategic priorities, monitor and report progress toward strategic goals and objectives. Plan, manage, implement, and evaluate alumni networks, focusing on enhancing and expanding industry/sector alumni engagement, utilizing input from key constituencies including alumni. Contribute to the advancement of alumni engagement by identifying, cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting volunteer support of alumni. Benchmark professional and industry network best practices (including process, procedures, policies, and metrics) against similar colleges through phone calls, electronic communication, and conferences as necessary (every 2 years or as appropriate). Partner with Career Services, colleges, schools and departments across the university to provide programming, events, and resources for alumni. Lead and direct Alumni Networks administrative functions. Examples of functions include:

Marketing and technology strategy for professional and industry networks. Assessment strategy: Identify alumni engagement data needs and independently create, distribute, and analyze results.

Supervise, train, and mentor assistant director, alumni belonging. Promote a team atmosphere where creativity, independence, and a high level of motivation and accomplishment are valued. Relationship Management and Alumni Programming In collaboration with the assistant vice president of alumni engagement, conceptualize and support alumni networks. Oversee all processes ranging from network and program development, event production, manual and document writing, and publications. A key priority in this programming will be increasing support for the goals of Alumni Engagement, Advancement, and the University. Recruit, manage, and steward volunteers, based on the principles of volunteer management to successfully engage them in the life of the University. Plan, organize, and engage alumni based on professional and industry networks via events and activities. Coordinate a segment of these events in partnership with volunteer leaders. Professional and Industry Networks Marketing and Communication Leverage technology and social media platforms to enhance the university’s professional and industry networks. Develop and provide content for the website, including event information, online registration, and electronic correspondence. Data Collection Maintain, in conjunction with administrative coordinator and administrative assistant, records, paper and data, related to event, including registration lists and attendee lists. QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), including experience/ability to identify and emphasize diverse perspectives in programming, communications, and strategy Demonstrated commitment to collaboration. Excellent volunteer management skills. Excellent special event planning and facilitation, including liability and insurance protection best practices. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to interact with diverse constituencies. Understanding of the importance of customer service. High degree of comfort with technology, including social media platforms, and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms. Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort level with public speaking. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, in conjunction with comfort level of working in fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects. Demonstrated solid problem solving skills. Experience with Microsoft office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Accounting principles and recordkeeping also are essential. Knowledge of constituent databases, including Blackbaud CRM, as well as web-based software, including Blackbaud Internet Solutions. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Five years of progressive responsibility and leadership in a college/university alumni engagement, career services, corporate relations or parallel setting, or a combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in the volunteer management, event management, higher education, and/or program management, including administrative responsibility and staff supervision. WORK HOURS: Full-time, exempt position Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week Position requires work on reunion and homecoming weekend Position frequently requires work on evenings and weekends SALARY STRUCTURE: Pay Grade 8 (Hiring Range $64,210.00 to $85,072.00 annually) ABOUT UR : At the University of Richmond, we’re creative, inclusive, and determined.
