The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in assigned areas throughout the day. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for employees, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while responding to various facility needs as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Clean and restock restrooms throughout the day (includes wiping down surfaces, refilling soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper, as needed).
- Regularly clean and maintain common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and break rooms.
- Spot clean windows, glass doors, and other surfaces as needed.
- Collect and dispose of trash from bins in common areas, offices, and restrooms.
- Conduct frequent checks of high-traffic areas to ensure cleanliness is maintained.
- Report any maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing, electrical) to the Sr. Director of Facilities Operations promptly.
- Respond to requests for cleaning services in a timely and efficient manner.
- Address spills, accidents, or other immediate cleaning needs as they occur.
- Provide assistance to building occupants with general inquiries or needs.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain a secure and safe environment by following security and safety procedures

Requirements
- Previous experience in a janitorial, housekeeping, or porter role is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30lbs, bend, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
