(1) Part-Time (24hr) Hybrid Days/Eves e/o weekend: Week 1: Sun (2p-6p), Mon (6a-6p), Fri (6a-2p) Week 2: Mon (6a-6p), Fri (6a-2p), Sat (2p-6p) (1) Full-Time (40hrs) Evening Shift (2p-10p) e/o weekend: Week 1: Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri Week 2: Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat (1) Part-time (24hrs) Night Shift (6p-6a) e/o weekend: Week 1: Fri, Sat Week 2: Sun, Tues Relief, all shifts Per Diem - shifts vary Starting at $17 an hour (earn up to $21.50 an hour with differentials), plus a $1,200 Sign-On BonusDifferentials: Evening Diff: 5pm - 11pm $2.00 per hour, Night Diff: 11pm - 6am $3.00 per hour & Weekend Diff: 2pm Friday through Sunday at 11:59pm $1.50 per hour.SUMMARY: Responsible for creating a nurturing home for residents and provides care and services to meet their needs within an environment of hope, dignity and love. The Elder Sharath works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, medical staff, visitors and volunteers to create this positive environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to personal care, housekeeping & home maintenance, food preparation and service, activities, recordkeeping and household financial management. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Personal Care: All essential functions will be performed with empathy, dignity and respect of the Elder and will respect and accommodate resident's individual choices whenever possible. The Elder Sharath will also facilitate and help the resident to complete as much of their personal care as possibleProvides for the daily hygiene care of the elders to include: bathing, dressing, grooming and related personal careAssists resident to have clothes purchased, laundered, and repaired as neededResponsible for taking and properly recording elder's vital signs. (i.e.: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.).Responsible for observing Elders well being (i.e.: change in behavior, change in vital signs, etc.) and reporting such changes to the appropriate team member Housekeeping & Maintenance of Home: Involves the Elders in maintaining the home whenever possibleCleans all areas of the Elder's environment according to housekeeping proceduresPerforms minor household maintenance such as changing light bulbs, tightening cupboard knobs, etcReports shortages, breakage and malfunctioning of equipmentKnows and adheres to fire, emergency, and security policies and proceduresImplements infection control measures Food Preparation & Service: Plans meals with the Elder and with others in the household to provide an appetizing, balancedand nutritious diet. Facilitates flexibility in meal plan and provisionEncourages Elder's participation in food preparation, service, and clean upPrepares and stores food as per requirements of Serve Safe™ courseEncourages and makes available healthy snacksOrders groceries as per procedureSupports the Elder in adhering to special diet requirements as required by the care plan Communication: Maintains confidentiality of information about the Elder and his or her family, etc.Keeps the Nurse informed of any changes in the Elder's condition through incidental and formal reports. Reports must be timely based on the type of change observed.Work as a productive, supportive and communicative team memberParticipates actively in team conferences and all other care team meetingsAccurately record care and observations on the clinical record of the residentResponsible for ordering supplies for Cottage from appropriate departmentsEncourage and support meaningful activities for Elders throughout the day using living opportunities, i.e., meal preparation, laundry, visiting as well as structured activities when possible Safety: Obeys safety rules of St. John's UnitedIdentifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazardsRoutinely places wet floor signs or other safety warning materials to notify others of the hazardAttends mandatory safety in-services Mission/Customer Service: Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals.Follows the St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service*Let the Mission be your guide*Make eye contact and smile*Greet & welcome each and every person*Seek out personal contact*Provide immediate service-listen & act*Use appropriate body language at all times*Be gracious to each & every personEmployee Responsibilities: Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.Attends all mandatory in-servicesPerforms other duties as assigned by the Health Director, Executive Director of The Crossings or person in charge of area where work is being done. RequirementsREQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred. Must possess a current Montana State Nurses Aide Certification, or have completed the SJU CNA Course and will obtain certification within 120 days of class completion.Knowledge: Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of the Elder Sharath training, must be certified nursing assistant and, complete Abuse Training and required training in Serve Safe ™, food preparation, basic nutritional guidelines related to resident menu planning and basics of household financial management, housekeeping, infection control, light maintenance.Skills/Abilities: Must possess good writing, verbal and observation skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Exceptional organizational abilities. Complexity/Difficulty: This position requires the ability to function independently in performing duties and be able to problem solve using good judgment with the Elder's involvement whenever possible. The person needs to be able to respond to Elders needs in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the Elder's rights. Incumbent performs job tasks following established procedures and works with team leader to identify and address problems or concerns within the team.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires lifting, bending, walking and standing for prolong periods of time.
