Join Our Team as the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute Are you passionate about shaping the future of criminal justice education? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Criminal Justice Institute. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by overseeing our degree and certification programs, ensuring the training and placement of qualified graduates, and maintaining high standards in accordance with FDLE, CJSTC, and College policies. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Supervision: Lead and evaluate all Criminal Justice Institute programs and staff, ensuring compliance with FDLE, CJSTC, and College policies. Program Promotion: Market and promote our programs, develop marketing materials, and represent our Criminal Justice programs at various events. Student Recruitment & Advising: Recruit and advise students on curriculum and career opportunities, assist with registration, and manage disciplinary actions as needed. Operational Management: Approve class schedules, manage facilities, and ensure the safety and accessibility of instructional materials and equipment. Instructor Oversight: Schedule and evaluate instructors, ensuring high-quality education delivery. Curriculum Development: Ensure instructional materials and facilities are safe and operational, update course curricula, and evaluate textbooks and syllabi. Student Assessment: Develop evaluation instruments to measure student outcomes and gather feedback on instructional effectiveness. Certification Preparation: Prepare academy recruits for state certification exams and oversee graduation ceremonies. Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports for various agencies. Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets, oversee equipment purchases, and maintain inventory. Grant Development: Research and develop grant proposals to support program initiatives. Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with local criminal justice agencies and participate in professional organizations. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field. Three (3) years of experience in the management and delivery of education and/or training programs for criminal justice personnel; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Valid Florida driver’s license. Knowledge of the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) rules and regulations and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) policies and procedures pertaining to officer standards and training. Knowledge of criminal justice programs and post-secondary elements of teaching and advising. Skill in organizing, mentoring, problem solving, motivating others, and prioritizing. Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications. Ability to apply good judgment, develop a budget, and be people oriented. Ability to develop strategies to recruit, retain, graduate, and place students. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures.
