Senior Software Engineer - Jet Engine Control (Onsite) Join to apply for the Senior Software Engineer - Jet Engine Control (Onsite) role at Boom Supersonic At Boom, we're designing the first purpose-built engine for supersonic passenger flight. Building Symphony requires custom software across the stackincluding the real-time control software that governs the entire engine. This role is your entry point into that world. You'll be hands?on with the software that interfaces with sensors, actuators, and critical flight systemsensuring Symphony runs smoothly and safely from light?off to cruise. Over time, this role will grow into developing FADEC: the full?authority digital engine control system at the heart of next?generation propulsion. Base pay range $140,000.00/yr - $177,000.00/yr Compensation The Base Salary Range for this position is $140,000 - $177,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom's total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include long term incentives/equity, a flexible PTO policy, and many other progressive b Responsibilities viewDevelop embedded jet engine control software that governs engine operation and signals across tightly coupled subsyst ems.Work with propulsion, test, and avionics engineers to define, refine, and validate control system requireme nts.Build and test software for real-time execution on safety-critical targets, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) syst ems.Establish strong software engineering practices including version control, unit testing, and automated testing and deployment for embedded syst ems.Help design the future FADEC architecture, with increasing scope and ownership as Symphony matu res.Support simulation and test campaigns by integrating control software with engine models and testbed instrumentat ion.Own the full lifecycle of your codefrom prototype to flight-re Ideal Candidate idateReal-time or embedded systems development experience especially in Rust, C, or C++ for safety-critical applicat ions.Professional software engineering background: familiar with structured requirements, source control, automated tests, and deployment workf lows.Proficient with Linux, real-time operating systems (e.g., VxWorks, FreeRTOS, QNX, or RTEMS), or bare-metal develop ment.Curious and collaborative: you enjoy learning how complex machines work and building tools that make them be tter.Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-stakes environments where iteration and quality go hand-in- hand.Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team set ting.Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environ What Will Set You ApartExperience developing embedded control systems for aerospace, automotive, or robotics, including familiarity with DO-178C or other safety-critical stan dards.Proven track record building control loops, signal-processing logic, or actuator command sof tware.Experience with model-based design and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) or static analysis tools for safety-critical code quality (e.g., MISRA compliance, Coverity, or Polys pace).History of navigating cross-discipline technical problemsacross software, electrical, and mechanical sy stems.A passion for flight, engines, and building things that push the boundaries of speed and precisio To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Departme nt of State.
