1. Engages in a program of clinical speech/language services which includes identification, remediation, referral, resource and administrative services 2. Assumes responsibility for identification of children with speech and/or language impairments 3. Assumes responsibility after consultation with the appropriate administrator(s) for planning and developing interventions and designating the professional delivery system for children and youth with speech and language impairments 4. Develops and adheres to a regular schedule of speech/language services, in compliance with recommendations in the student’s IEP 5. Establishes procedures for an appropriate and efficient record-keeping and evaluation system 6. Maintains an individual file record on every student served 7. Responsible for speech-language evaluation and comprehensive report to be shared in eligibility process 8. Develops IEP goals and objectives based on student needs 9. Updates progress toward IEP goals and objectives on a quarterly basis 10. Prepares and distributes, as required by the Special Education office, narrative and/or statistical summaries of services provided during the school year 11. Establishes an effective working relationship through counseling and guidance of school personnel, other professionals and parents regarding speech and language impairments 12. Participates in IEP meetings with school and other related professional personnel teams established for purposes of identifying, assessing and recommending program models and/or treatment of students with communication needs 13. Provides in-service education for teachers, school administrators and parents in the area of speech/language services as requested 14. Collaborates with the classroom teacher to understand and facilitate the speech andlanguage development of identified students in their classrooms 15. Assumes primary responsibility for evaluating for, requesting, and maintaining needed assistive technology/AAC equipment and supplies for students on their caseload. 16. Trains necessary staff on AT/AAC devices and equipment. 17. Possible travel between schools within the district and outside of Homer 33C. 18. Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the principal or Director of Special Services Qualifications 1. Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from a program that meets ASHA certification requirements 2. One year of experience preferred 3. Current state license/ PEL in speech-language pathology 4. Experience in identification, evaluation, and treatment, of speech and language disorders 5. Ability to pass background check and drug screening 6. Pass a Regional Office of Education Fingerprint/Background Clearance including FBI search 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Salary/Benefits 180-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
