Specific Responsibilities

The Accountant II, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache's Accounting Shared Services team, reporting to the Accounting Sr Manager. This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate Check Write monthly for the owner level and company level runs. Includes managing the process in PRA, ensuring files are sent successfully to the bank, print & mail vendor, and web host vendor, and prepare monthly metrics. Work closely with Revenue Accounting and Land Data Management.
  • Coordinate the monthly excessive check review; perform analysis, work with Revenue and Land Data Management to resolve issues identified, create SOX support packets.
  • Coordinate annual mailing of Texas Natural Resources Code 91.504 notice and answer inquiries related to it.
  • Respond to Owner Inquiries - perform analysis, work with Revenue, Land Data Management, Operations, Legal, Marketing, and other departments when necessary to formulate a response to owners.
  • Assist with annual 1099 reporting; perform analysis, make corrections where necessary before filings are finalized.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with emphasis on Returned Royalties.
  • Assist with projects as needed including but not limited to system testing, litigation reserve journals, process invoices from third party vendors, statutory interest calculations, and cross functional tasks related to Collections.
Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting; other field of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours.
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting and oil & gas industry terminology.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, administrative, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet monthly deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook.
