Performs tests and calculations, documents and reports results. Follows established QA/QC policies and procedures. Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment. Maintains procedures, records and logs. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge, deductive skills and judgment to troubleshoot and resolve them. Recognizes abnormal or unusual pre-analytical, post-analytical and post-analytical problemsJob Responsibilities: Under general supervision, performs the tests ordered in the specific laboratory section(s) as assigned. Sections include chemistry, hematology, transfusion service, and microbiology. Access to coordinator or other professional personnel is required. May assist CLA's and other technical team. Other duties assigned Education: Medical Technologist - Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science and successful completion of an approved Medical Technology internship program, OR Medical Laboratory Technician - High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited college or university and completion of a clinical laboratory internship preferred. Certification/Licensure: Certified as an MT/MLS or MLT by one of the National Commission of Health Certifying Agencies or by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health Laboratories Branch. State license as a Technologist or Technician. Skills:•Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.•Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.•Excellent customer service skills.Other: Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as, but not limited to, lab coats, gloves, face shields. Will be completing a mask fitting upon hire.
