Description

Purpose of this Job:

The purpose of this role is to manage inventory levels and targets and managing supply and demand within the Global supply chain. Ensure proper inventory is available to meet production demand within timeframes necessary to produce and ship product to customers.

Requirements

Principle Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Determine material requirements to support Compressor Assembly, Machine Shop, Die Cast, production schedules, Service/Replacement part inventory targets and sale forecast
  • Maintain responsibility for monitoring/creating purchase orders, on a daily basis, for appropriate vendors through ERP system.
  • Anticipate possible supply shortages depending on unpredictable variables and devise strategies to solve any problems with inventory supply.
  • Track inventory levels to plan and initiate countermeasures when parts deviate from plan
  • Supporting and providing the coordination of the material planning, purchasing and production scheduling function to ensure timely delivery to customers of finished products
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
  • Plan and schedule delivery of assigned materials
  • Track material status to ensure necessary materials are available as needed
Other Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Expedite past due orders from the suppliers
  • Communicate purchase order and planning data to suppliers by phone, fax, e-mail or EDI and follow up as necessary to ensure timely receipt
  • Monitor daily and weekly shortage/exceptions reports to target potential problem areas and follow-up as necessary to resolve any supply problems
  • Prepare analysis for all start-up/run out of materials to minimize exposure to obsolete stock or delays in start-up
  • Issue corrective actions to suppliers below 100% on time delivery
  • Perform EDI activities as needed
  • Reduce inventory levels while maintaining sufficient stock to supply production operations
  • Minimize inventory obsolescence and delayed start-ups
  • Minimize and eliminate production down time due to material shortages
  • Manage inventory to target levels and report exceptions to department supervisor. Administer action plans to reduce/use excess or slow-moving inventory and to build inventory for part shortages
  • Prepare six and twelve-month purchase plan each business term
  • Assist Production Planning and Scheduling Manager as needed
  • Attend critical parts meetings
  • Special projects/studies as required
  • Responsible for awareness and compliance with company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Contributing to the effectiveness of the EHS policies and procedures by communicating and reporting unsafe conditions and/or non-compliances
  • Other duties assigned
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business related field or equivalent preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Proficient in MS Office and integrated manufacturing software systems, i.e., IQMS, SAP, etc.
  • Degree in Business/Operations preferred
  • APICS certification with MRP experience preferred
  • Requires 3 to 7 years' experience in Production or Inventory Control for fast paced manufacturing environment

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Must be capable of dealing with fast paced environment while maintaining high degree of accuracy and detail
  • Must interact with numerous departments within Sanden as well as Sanden locations
  • Operates in office and occasionally warehouse/manufacturing environments
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
  • PPE may be required based on specific projects
Work Environment/Hours:
  • Primary work area is located in an office setting
  • Must work normal office hours plus provide support on evenings and weekend (as needed)
