Job Description:

Likewize is searching for an Assistant Controller to join our team at our global Headquarters in Southlake, TX.

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day accounting department activities and all related systems and processes, including responsibilities in general accounting, accounts payable, inventory accounting, and fixed assets. This role is responsible for multiple U.S. and Canadian entities and intercompany activity with several entities across multiple countries. The Assistant Controller supervises and reviews the work of the staff to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, compliance with internal control procedures and adherence to corporate policies. In addition to supervising the Staff, this position also may prepare journal entries, calculations and account reconciliations for some of the more complex accounting areas.

This position requires a hands-on manager working in a collaborative environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Using JD Edwards and Great Plains ERP systems to account for multiple corporate entities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Preparing journal entries as needed and reviewing entries prepared by staff, both locally and from shared service center, in a manner to meet monthly deadlines.
  • Preparing account reconciliations as needed and reviewing entries prepared by staff, both locally and from shared service center.
  • Overseeing and supporting inventory accounting processes and reconciliations.
  • Analyzing and providing explanations for financial variances.
  • Adhering to all company policies and supporting strong internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Overseeing intercompany balancing process monthly.
  • Drive process improvements to optimize the efficiency of work within the department and to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Supervising, developing, and reviewing the work of a team of accountants and clerks both locally and in the shared service center with a "hands-on" approach as the central resource to answer questions and provide guidance.
  • Working collaboratively with all departments across the company, particularly IT, technology development, warehouse, operations, sales, etc.
  • Conducting Ad-Hoc financial analysis for on-going business proposals and program renewals.
  • Supporting financial, SOC1 and other audits as needed.
If you are who we are looking for, you will have the following education, skills and/or experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field).
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in fast-paced environment.
  • 3+ years of Management experience.
  • Foreign Currency revaluation and translation experience, global company experience.
  • Experience in inventory accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong knowledge of operational accounting functions and related internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP/ accounting theory.
  • Ability to absorb new concepts and apply in work assignments.
  • Ability to be agile - shift priorities and manage workload to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties to maximize performance and continuously improve current processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate excel and word skills.
Preferred:
  • CPA certification, or master's degree in accounting.
  • 1-3 years audit experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Experience with ERP integrations.
  • Distribution inventory experience.
  • Insurance and/or Reinsurance experience.
  • Service contracts/Warranty contracts experience.
