Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions has an opening for a Materials Engineer based in the Houston area at our Technology Center. This role will provide advanced technical support for the Metallurgical Analysis Laboratory.General Responsibilities Serve as the technical expert and provide consulting support for metallurgical evaluations and material selections Perform analytical testing on multiple Failure Analysis projects under the direction of senior staff or management Perform Corrosion Analysis Testing to identify and report on the cause of failure in water and hydrocarbon process systems. Provide high level technical consultation for Technology and Commercial teams as needed Provide training and supervision on the operation of laboratory instrumentation Author and review Standard Operating Procedures Perform method development, validation and implementation Perform analyses as needed per Standard Operating Procedures guidelines Meet established due dates for all work assigned Ensure quality of all results through adherence to the Quality Management System requirements Follow all EHS policies and proceduresRequirements: BS in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering from an ABET accredited university Minimum of 2 years of Metallurgical laboratory experience (academic or industrial/commercial) Proven technical writing and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross functional teams Excellent computer skills including both Google and MS Office products Proven ability to lead projects Proven efficiency in a fast paced and high volume environmentDesired qualifications: Masters or PhD in Materials / Metallurgical Engineering, or related field Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) registration Additional Laboratory experience in analytical testing, industrial/commercial Knowledgeable of industrial processes such as boiler, cooling, wastewater and hydrocarbon processing Skilled in forensic analysis of failed metallurgical materials and processes Experience working effectively with one or more of the following: digital photography equipment, band saw, cut-off wheel, metal cleaning equipment, hardness testing equipment, metallographic microscopes, SEM-EDXA, stereomicroscopes, micrometers, computer data entry systems, cutting / metal sample prep equipment and other hand tools Experience implementing methods in an ISO 9001 (or similar) certified organization Experience using a LabWare LIMS Experience performing analyses for industrial water or process systemsWe offer competitive compensation and benefits working in a dynamic environment with challenging projects and training provided to ensure your success.We realize diverse teams make smarter decisions, deliver better results, and build stronger communities.
