Description

The incumbent will facilitate planning, development, and implementation for the Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court Program. The JHTWC is designed to provide court intervention and early access to therapeutic and treatment services to youth that have entered into the criminal justice system and who may be dealing with issues involving alcohol and/or drug use. In conjunction with Court staff, the Healing to Wellness Court Coordinator is responsible for forming, coordinating, and staffing a multi-disciplinary advisory team, drafting program policy and procedures to screen and determine eligibility of participants, and produce deliverables required by the grant and funder (Department of Justice) in a timely fashion. NOTE: Grant Funded for 3 years, Full-Time (30 hours per week)

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of criminal justice system, especially the laws and policies that affect Juveniles, both State and Tribal.
  • Experience with youth who are experiencing alcohol or substance abuse issues. Knowledge of resources that can be called upon for assistance in the fields of Youth offenders, at-risk youth, education, health services, alcoholism, mental health, childhood trauma, and restorative justice trends.
  • Work independently and work effectively with judges, Court personnel, service workers, and other agencies.
  • Conduct public presentations to promote awareness and education of the program.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Possess valid California Driver's License and be insurable.
  • Experience working in Indian Country with native youth.
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or social work or related field, plus three years of related experience. Preferred a Master's degree in criminal justice, social work or a related field plus one year of specialized related experience.
