About the job Sr. Tax Accountant

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Senior Accountant to join our tax department. The Tax Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing tax compliance, planning, and consulting services to clients. This role requires expertise in tax law, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance:
    • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
    • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations while maximizing tax benefits for clients.
    • Research and interpret tax legislation to provide accurate advice and support.
  2. Tax Planning:
    • Develop tax planning strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
    • Advise clients on tax-efficient business structures, investments, and transactions.
    • Conduct tax projections and estimate tax liabilities for planning purposes.
  3. Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact for tax-related matters.
    • Provide proactive tax advice and guidance to address clients' needs and objectives.
    • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements.
  4. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct tax research on complex issues and developments to support tax planning and compliance efforts.
    • Analyze financial data and documents to identify tax implications and recommend solutions.
    • Stay current on tax law changes and developments to ensure compliance and provide timely advice.
  5. Team Leadership and Mentoring:
    • Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support in tax matters.
    • Review workpapers and tax returns prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the tax department.
  6. Client Representation:
    • Represent clients in tax audits and examinations by government authorities, providing support and advocacy throughout the process.
    • Prepare responses to tax notices and inquiries, addressing issues raised by tax authorities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax law and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem FX, UltraTax) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
