PRIMARY FUNCTION:The Senior Director, Philanthropic Engagement, directly manages all regional development leads and provides oversight for all frontline fundraising efforts within the division, implementing training programs and providing ongoing coaching to onboard new staff members and enhance the skills and capabilities of existing team members. This individual plays a critical leadership role in setting and ensuring the execution of the development strategy for the division aligned to the overall ADL development strategy. Philanthropy is a cross-functional endeavor and having access to systems that enable integration and collaboration is critical to the success of the organization’s development efforts. Accordingly, the Senior Director will collaborate with divisional and regional operations leadership, philanthropic operations staff, and other departments within ADL to align fundraising efforts with efforts of other functions and further the culture of philanthropy. ResponsibilitiesPrimary:Manage, mentor, recruit, hire, onboard, train, mentor, manage, and review a high performing team of fundraising professionals who support and advance the mission of ADL.Implement training programs and provide ongoing coaching to onboard new staff members and enhance the skills and capabilities of existing team members. Ensure engagement of regional and divisional development staff with national training programs such as Plus Delta. Work collaboratively with staff members external to Philanthropic Engagement who provide direct support to the division to ensure needed resources, tools, and support matches divisional needs.Serve as a matrixed leader with the Operations Team working in close collaboration with the Divisional Vice President of Operations.Within the agency-wide parameters, develop comprehensive fundraising plans with each region - identifying priorities, establishing timelines, monitoring success as it relates to targets/metrics, and revising plans as necessary.Set and achieve annual fundraising goals for the Division’s major gifts portfolio and provide guidance and coaching to set and achieve the Division’s fundraising objectives.Develop and manage the division's annual fundraising budget, including the tracking and oversight of revenues and expenses.Drive moves management and the donor engagement process activity across the Division and ensure identified donors and prospects are moving up the pipeline or being disqualified.Guide Regional development professionals within the identified CSC Stewardship policies and procedures, to develop appropriate and effective cultivation and solicitation strategies, reviewing and advising on proposals, and managing collaborative and individual stewardship efforts. Collaborate and partner across the organization in the pursuit of fundraising excellence and to achieve ADL’s overall fundraising goals. Utilize the agency-wide metrics and key performance indicators framework to establish and actively monitor development activity for the division’s front-line fundraisers including the creation and ongoing management of donor and prospect portfolios.Establish a strong divisional culture of philanthropy both within the division’s development team and with the division’s cross-functional partners. With the agreement of your manager, may serve as a portfolio manager or engagement officer for a small number of major or principal gift donors.QualificationsSkills:Commitment to the mission and values of ADL.Ability to manage a diverse range of activities across a complex organization, setting priorities and supporting the successful achievement of goals.Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to utilize both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision making and planning.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and processes.Willingness and ability to support and manage standardized processes. Serves as a role model in supporting the organization’s overall vision and philanthropic direction. Team collaboration with colleagues across departments, including program staff, leadership, and other fundraising professionals, to leverage resources and support donor engagement initiatives.Ethical standards which reflect ethical fundraising practices and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, such as AFP's Code of Ethical Principles and Standards.Work Experience: The ideal candidate has significant years of progressive experience in frontline fundraising, with demonstrable experience securing five and six figure gifts, preferably within a large national or global non-profit with affiliates or regional offices.Substantial management experience with success in building, retaining, motivating, and developing a high-performing fundraising team.Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.Work Environment:Willingness to travel as needed for donor meetings and events required.ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.Compensation:This position has a salary range of $130,000 to $190,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Chicago, IL. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
