CNC OperatorFLSA Class: Non-Exempt/HourlyDepartment: ManufacturingType: Full-TimeReports To: Group Manager - CNCEEO-1 Class: OperativesSalary Range: $17.00 per hour - $30.00 per hourStarting salary will depend on experience and skill.Summary/Objective The CNC Operator produces machined parts by setting up and operating CNC Lathe or Mill machines, bar feeding or bar pulling operations, verifying machine operation, maintain accuracy and tolerances, update travelers and routings.Essential Functions Must have mastered all the requirements of the previous level and master the following Functions: Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Understand and identify the different material types and sizes. Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set bar machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences. Input initial part dimensions into machine control panels. Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation. Review calculations for machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts. Entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, proving part programs. Understand the difference of M-codes and G-codes. Understands the process of how-to setup bar lathes by installing tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Concepts of drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing operations, and the proper use of each tool. Taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and replacing worn tools. Adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Use and properly store approved precision measuring equipment. Check schedule and get next set-up ready before previous job is complete. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Educations and Experience High school diploma, GED and/or Technical School Graduate with concentration in CNC Lathe and Mill operations or industry recognized certification. 1-3 years' experience required. Experience with Okuma and/or Fanuc preferred. Skills and Competencies Must have basic math skills. Able to read, write, and have a working knowledge of English. A knowledge of technical drawings is required. Knowledge in the use of basic measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators. Conceptual skills. Verbal Communication. Functional and Technical skills. Attention to Detail. Knowledge of the use of different Tooling. Coordination. Team Player. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
