**INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY OFFICER (ISSO) - SENIOR**

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Clearance: Secret

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Become part of the SNVC team performing duties of ISSO. Responsible for administering, assuring and maintaining a unique communication system network to allow secure communication of critical mission data. Responsible for ensuring appropriate operational security posture is maintained. Plays an active role in monitoring the system and its environment. Develops and updates the System Security Plan (SSP), managing and controlling changes to the system, A&A package and assessing the security impact of those changes. Coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO) risk mitigation statement prior to the change. Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and procedures as outlined in the security authorization package. Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package. Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals. Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances, authorization, need-to-know, and are aware of their security responsibilities before granting access to the IS. Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly. Ensure audit records are collected and reviewed.

Requirements:

* 5 years of specialized experience in the field of Information Systems Security Officer

* IAM Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M

* Experience in working with RMF including ushering of packages through the Security Control Assessor (SCA) and Authorizing Official (AO).

* Capable to coordinate and lead discussions during RMF meetings; maintain close communication within the development teams; and report status to the government ISSMs as per reference DoD Instructions 8500.01 and 8510.01.

* Experience with eMASS and ACAS; able to prepare RMF Packages.

* Able to support the ISSMs by interacting with developers, System ISSOs, ISSEs, Code Reviewers, and Validators.

* Able to resolve STIG and security control findings and update Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) spreadsheet as directed by the Government. Track, monitor and evaluate all related Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVMs) through identification to closeout.

* Experienced in developing and maintain the RMF package to include maintaining the system/program artifacts (compelling evidence), assigning security controls based on the system categorization as required by Committee of National Security Service (CNSS) 1253 and NIST SP 800-60, Volume II, ensuring the system/program is properly registered in eMASS, identifying the system/program RMF Team members, and initiating the RMF System Security Plan (SSP).

* Experienced in validating assigned Security Controls including execution of the SSP, coordinate validation activities, and compiling the status of the validation results in the RMF Scorecard.

In addition to LCAT description:

* Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

* Guides the successful completion of major programs. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

* Represents organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

* Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

* Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.

* Some Remote work, but must be able to work within a 50 mile radius of Ft Meade and be onsite 1-2 times per week or as necessary.
