The Senior Employment Specialist leads World Relief Durham's (WRD) job placement services for newly arrived and ORR eligible refugees in the Triangle region of North Carolina, through the Matching Grant (MG) and Refugee Support Services (RSS) programs. The Senior Specialist cultivates and maintains relationships with employers, prepares and places refugees in appropriate employment opportunities, and provides post-placement follow-up services. The Senior Specialist supervises two Employment Coordinators and ensures all job placement services are carried out with excellence.

Role & Responsibilities

    • Direct Services
    • Conduct continuous job development outreach to local employers to create new opportunities for refugees seeking initial employment in the United States.
    • Assist refugees enrolled in WRD's Refugee Support Services (RSS) and Matching Grant (MG) programs to prepare for employment in the United States through both individual coaching and execution of Job Readiness training. Provide appropriate job placements to refugees enrolled in RSS or MG.
    • Collaborate with enrolled clients to develop and execute individual employment services plans
    • Conduct follow-up with clients and employers after job placement to address areas of concern and ensure continued employment Maintain accurate and timely records of service and client data, including client notes and database entries. Provide structured coaching to job seekers who are not in compliance with program requirements, in order to facilitate self-sufficiency
    • Other related tasks as assigned.
    • Leadership and Supervision
    • Provide ongoing training and supervision of Employment Coordinators
    • Oversee distribution of cases to members of the job development team
    • Engage in ongoing monitoring of performance outputs and accuracy/timeliness of data entry and record keeping
    • Evaluate job placements to confirm suitability and opportunity for self-sufficiency
    • Re-assign former clients back to Employment Coordinators when initial job placements prove inadequate to facilitate self-sufficiency
    • Work closely with Employment Manager to conduct ongoing process of program evaluation and improvement
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Advanced cross-cultural fluency
    • Fluent in English with strong oral and written skills; preferably bi-lingual
    • Advanced proficiency MS Office programs
    • Detail oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks and demands
    • Enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging, and multi-cultural environment.
    • Excellent communication skills, with ability to work well with others in a professional, friendly, and flexible manner.
    • Ability to problem solve independently and improve office functions independently
Requirements

    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
    • 2 years' minimum professional experience in employment services
    • Valid driver's license and ability to transport clients to appointments required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

•Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

•Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
