Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Information Technology Center (NITC) is seeking an adaptable, highly motivated, innovative individual to fill the role of an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). The candidate will work with a team of skilled Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to provide cybersecurity operations, continuous monitoring, audit; accreditation and authorization support. The candidate for this position will serve in a collaborative team environment, providing technical analysis, auditing and guidance necessary toward the successful delivery of cybersecurity operations and provide effective communication to all levels of staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will conduct both technical and non-technical internal audits and testing using industry and Department of Defense tools to validate system and operational requirements compliance
  • You will document, organize, and implement security control requirements
  • You will identify current and new risks and prepare vulnerability test plans and coordinate the testing and result procedures.
  • You will validate the effectiveness of security measures that have been implemented to ensure that they are sufficient to protect against current and future threats.
  • You will participate in Root cause analysis (RCA) relating to possible cybersecurity incidents as well as vulnerability management - gaining a deeper understanding of why an event has happened, providing a means for correcting and potentially preventing this action from happening again.
  • You will provide cybersecurity expertise and collaborative insight supporting program & project managers, customers, Information Technology (IT) Department and other functional support departments.
  • You will be responsible for creating, updating and maintaining presentations, reports, system/network diagrams, instructions and other written artifacts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Possess or able to obtain a security clearance
  • Security+, CASP+, and/or CISSP certification (or comparable certification) required or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
