Regulatory Specialist

About the job:

Nouryon's Chicago location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Regulatory Specialist. This position is essential to:

Experience in Regulatory Compliance matters including but not limited to:

  • Label and SDS authoring or Regulatory Notifications and Reporting.
  • TSCA Regulatory Compliance and relevant understanding of US EPA TSCA requirements.
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) New Substance Notification requirements and regulatory submissions via ECCC Single Window (SWIM).
  • Managing US/CAN regulatory restrictions
  • Direct experience in executing notifications and submitting required documentation to US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) for purpose of US Import/Export Compliance.

In Your Future Role as a Regulatory Specialist, You Will Be:
  • Responsible for maintaining chemical regulatory compliance in Canada and USA.
  • Lead the maintenance and functional operation of essential Regulatory tools and resources.
  • PSRA Solutions Tools administrator.
  • Owner of Regulatory Blocks process.
  • Digital File Room management.
  • Personal Care Toxicology Document owner.
  • PRID Team Leader.
  • SCII DocOwner.
  • HPC SharePoint PSRA Information Management and Tox Summary management.
  • Supporting regulatory reporting requirements in designated Americas (e.g. US TSCA and Canadian Environmental Protection Act).
  • Authorized Official role in EPA CDX and ECCC SWIM.
  • Supporting other colleagues in the global team to meet local regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Tracking regulatory changes, conduct impact analyses, and develop compliance strategies (i.e. MOCRA, TSCA, and CEPA).
  • Managing substance/product registration and compliance for new product development activities, including country-specific substance notifications. (i.e. US TSCA PMNs, LVEs, CEPA NSNs).
  • Engagement and resolution of internal business and external customer enquiries.
  • Support business goals by proactively providing regulatory advice and information to the business.
Proactive Monitoring of Chemical Regulation Developments/Trends
  • Monitor and interpret (existing and developing) chemical regulations and assess impact on business to provide proactive and timely advice/guidance.
  • Represent Nouryon in industry associations and consortia technical/regulatory committees.
  • Proactively monitor relevant regulatory developments/trends and communicate their implications and evaluate business impact for Nouryon businesses.
Ensure Substance Registration
  • Supports or leads registration / notification processes on a regional (global) level in a timely and cost-efficient way.
Provide Strategic Customer Support
  • Leads business support by responding to strategic customer's enquires related to regulatory information.
  • Develops and maintains regulatory statements.
Provide R&D Support
  • Responsible for performing regulatory reviews and providing regulatory documentation to support R&D projects and business needs.
  • Deliver regulatory advice/guidance for the development and launch of new offerings into applicable regional markets.
  • Prepare all necessary PSRA information/documentation for the launch of a new or changed product or import of new product to the region and sign off in Material Lifecycle Management process or New Product Evaluation forms.
We Believe You Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree or 15+ years of industry experience and minimum 10+ years in regulatory affairs.
  • Clear understanding in regulatory affairs information management, document retention, and regulatory system maintenance.
  • Capable to deliver support on business goals by providing product regulatory advice/guidance and/or management of emerging regulations.
  • Lead or participate in projects in the PSRA function.
  • Responsible for following the Nouryon Business Principles and Code of Conduct with an obligation to report deviations in legal compliance to responsible manager.
  • Strives to identify improvements and implement them.
  • Responsible for (initiating and) setting up harmonized processes within own area of responsibility in Nouryon concerning business processes and change management.
  • Obligation to maintain/archive product data, documents, decisions and assessments in accordance with legislation and other internal requirements.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with business.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with global team members, driving success with personal development and strong understanding of how to win together.
Great if you have:
  • Acts independently and pro-actively with integrity.
  • High competence at understanding and interpreting complex information and distilling down to communicate solutions to business.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications - especially for data analysis.
  • Desired experience in SAP/EHS.
  • Ability to influence and build up a network being service oriented, organized, flexible and reliable.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Displays technical experience.
  • Acts with integrity.
  • Knowledge of products and processes.
  • Can create and maintain networks.
  • Drives projects to completion.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Vice President, Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs, PSRA Global based in the Netherlands.
