As a Senior Construction Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and review of various legal agreements, with a focus on utility-scale projects in the power and construction industries. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in the construction and power industry, with a strong understanding of legal matters relevant to large-scale construction projects. The Senior Construction Counsel will: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal agreements, including but not limited to EPC contracts, master service agreements, purchase agreements, and sale agreements. Providing legal guidance and support to project teams throughout the lifecycle of construction projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and legal requirements. Conducting legal research and analysis on complex issues related to construction law, power industry regulations, and contract interpretation. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, procurement professionals, and finance teams, to address legal issues and mitigate risks effectively. Advising senior management on legal matters pertaining to construction projects, including risk management strategies and dispute resolution. The Senior Construction Counsel must have: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in South Carolina or eligibility for in-house counsel registration. Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on construction law, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm environment. Proven track record of drafting and negotiating complex construction-related agreements, including EPC contracts, master service agreements, and purchase agreements. Strong understanding of construction industry practices, including engineering principles, procurement processes, and project management methodologies. Experience working with major players in the power industry is highly desirable.
