DATE & NO.: REPORTS TO: Operations Manager LOCATION: Canonsburg, PA JOB LEVEL:DEPARTMENT: Operations STATUS: ExemptPosition Description Summary This position is responsible for creating detailed Layouts, 3D models and drawings that are utilized in the manufacturing of products and the construction of Dead Tank Breakers. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of engineers and production requirements and can specify dimensions, codes, bill of materials, and production methods. This list is not in inclusive, and duties may change as directed by business needs. Essential Functions The incumbent works on continuous productivity improvements in coordination with department supervisors: The Mechanical Engineer' designs feature the relationships between various mechanical parts and systems. They create and incorporate mathematical formulas to create component specifications and reproduce their schematics for use within reference materials, such as operations manuals. Responsibilities also include:•Prepare Layouts, 3D models, drawings and derived from a variety of specifications, reference drawings, blueprints. and sketches utilizing computer aided drafting software, 2D and 3D as well as techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings.•Prepare inputs for software programs, execute the programs, review outputs and submit for production.•Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects.•Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software.•Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.•Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. •Meets deadlines. •Support Manufacturing strategy that supports the new and emerging manufacturing technical needs of company. •Support design, development, procurement, and installation of manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling required for implementing the manufacture of new and existing product lines or the upgrade of existing processes. •Directs the publishing of formal manufacturing procedures to define use of machinery and equipment, manufacturing processes, and operating procedures. •Provides adequate follow-up to ensure achievement of yearly goals and objectives. •Understands product design and coordinates drawings with product design and application engineering. •Develops and maintains a sound general product knowledge and more specific product knowledge relating to application and manufacturing processes.•If required and work demands, visit vendors for inspection of raw material, assemblies, or finish/semi-finished transformer fittings and accessories. Qualifications: •Diploma in Mechanical engineering or equivalent (Minimum three-year course)•Or Bachelor's / associate degree from a certified technical school.•At least 3 years' experience in working in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment, with ability to read and understand technical documents and drawings.•Knowledge of state safety and structure regulations.•Relevant experience in transformer or other transformer related accessories and fitting. Knowledge and Skills •Advanced knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.•Requires strong ability to stay focused, utilize available resources, and demonstration of good judgment. •Lean MFG background utilizing the Lean tools•Must be able to work well with all levels of employees using fair and non-discriminating practices. •Good operational knowledge of PC applications. [Typically, Microsoft office suite]•Good knowledge of 2D and 3D software used in the engineering industry. •Keen eye for detail and self-checking ability.•Must be able to read engineering drawings for Dead Tank Breaker Product. •Complete accountability for one's own work.•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.•The ability to complete assigned projects in a team atmosphere. Physical Job Demands Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment. Ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly. May need a high level of concentration in a busy area. Work with operations team to meet or exceed customer expectations. Working Conditions Monday through Friday. Overnight, weekend, overtime, and/or travel may be required.
