Nichols College is seeking a Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. This is a full-time, salary-exempt, 12-month position reporting to the Dean of Students. The Director provides support to under-represented populations and education to all students in an effort to increase knowledge, understanding, and skills related to diversity. The Director will place emphasis on encouraging students to engage across differences, develop a global perspective, and encourage collaboration and advocacy. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator role is responsible for supporting the Title IX Coordinator with compliance obligations under Title IX, including investigative and education responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programming and initiatives to educate the student body on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; building upon existing initiatives including Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, Heritage Months, First Generation Graduation Ceremony, and other diversity celebrations and events.
  • Serve as an advocate for and resource to students from under-represented populations; including serving on various committees related to retention and student success.
  • Provide guidance, support, and resources to students and staff in managing DEI issues, sensitive situations, and/or crises. Communicate the identified needs of students to campus colleagues and connect students with appropriate resources.
  • Promote student success through direct mentorship of students as well as the creation and coordination of peer mentorship programs.
  • Partner with faculty, staff, and students across the College to ensure a robust offering of DEI training opportunities to a broad audience; including student leaders, athletics, academic affairs, and various departmental sessions.
  • Coordinates an integrated and comprehensive program that promotes interfaith dialogue and engagement utilizing Nichols College's All Faith's Chapel and local spiritual and religious communities.
  • Under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, conducts prompt and thorough investigations, which includes developing an investigative plan for complaints and incident reports of sexual misconduct, and prepares objective written investigative reports.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational materials and training for faculty, staff, and students regarding compliance with Title IX and other federal and local laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior On-Call rotation for Student Life; occasional nights and weekends will be required to support the division.
  • Other relevant and related duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
  • The selected candidate will be student-centered, well-organized, and able to work well under pressure with multiple and changing priorities. To be successful in this position, the candidate must have an expressed and demonstrated commitment to diversity social justice, and student development within a higher education setting.
  • Master's degree and 3-5 years full-time professional experience working in student affairs, higher education, or related field.
  • Direct experience with the development, coordination, planning, and facilitation of educational programming/workshops related to diversity, social justice, identity, and student development within a college setting.
  • Experience conducting investigations, preferably in Title IX, Higher Education and/or Human Resources or generating comprehensive written reports preferred.
