JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the bartender is to provide prompt, courteous service to all restaurant patrons. The bartender is responsible for providing excellent service to all guests who approach the bar, prepare and pour drinks, and keep the bar area cleaned and stocked at all times. The bartender is responsible for maintaining a genuine, cheerful demeanor while representing the Gordon Ramsay brand positively at all times.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Arrive at work on time, fully dressed, clean, and prepared with all of the proper work cards, credentials and uniform.
- Prepare the bar for daily service and alert management of any maintenance issues or missing product.
- Perform all opening, closing and side duties required of the bartender.
- Passionately inform guests about Gordon Ramsay, his history, and current business endeavors
- Greet guests using the 10'/5' rule and engage guests in cheerful, genuine conversation.
- Deliver the proper steps of service in the correct sequence
- Prepare drinks with proper portions and ingredients such as wine, liquor, cocktail and beer service to guests
- Engage with guests professionally and genuinely by maintaining a cheerful conversation and delivering the service that is required of them.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area before, during, and after the shift.
- Operate the cash register accurately and timely by ringing the proper amount into the register and giving the guest the correct change. This includes charging checks to the tender.
- Possess a keen sense of timing and are capable of discreetly speeding up or slowing down his/his station as necessary while also tendering checks and keeping the bar clean.
- Close the bar by disposing all trash, expired product, and waste; return food and beverage product to the proper storage facility; alert management of any maintenance issues or missing product; and turn off power/lights/etc.
- Depart the restaurant on time and having completed all the designated functions for the day.
- Requires 1 year of prior bartending experience.
- Must have completed union apprenticeship program (possess a union Pour Card).
- Must possess a valid SNHD health card.
- Common knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices preferred.
- Must have knowledge of classic beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
- Extensive wine knowledge.
- Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance.
- Work requires professional interactions with customers, co-workers and management.
- Work requires professional teamwork with other co-workers.
- Work requires ability to accurately count money and provide change.
- Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public. Requires standing, walking, and lifting a maximum of 50lbs. repeatedly. Shifts may vary based on business needs.
