This position directs and coordinates manufacturing engineering activities in the production processes involving metal fabrication, machining, welding, painting, and assembly on all shifts. This includes overseeing, coordinating, and actively engaging in manufacturing engineering projects to improve efficiency in product flow, material handling, safety, quality, and productivity. Support continuous improvement initiatives in all areas and disciplines within the facility.
This person must communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers at all levels of the organization daily. This person must be able to encourage and promote lean concepts and provide the means for employees at all levels within the operation to give input, share ideas, raise questions, and help make informed business decisions for continually improving programs, procedures, and systems involved in the overall manufacturing process.
Primary Responsibilities of this Position:
- Directly implement required manufacturing programs, processes, and procedures
- Provides direction in implementing safety, facility layouts, tooling, and fixtures
- Ensure that all manufacturing engineering projects are implemented and sustained
- Ensure that all manufacturing support is completed promptly
- Must understand, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures when leading projects and teams
- Responsible for teaching and implementing lean systems and methodologies
- Lead and mentor production supervisors and other employees in continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead and mentor employees towards root cause solutions of quality issues
- Lead or assist with Kaizen projects
- Develop and deliver presentations/training for internal and external use as required
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
- Ensure the manufacturing routings are accurate and represent the most efficient way to complete a part
- Ensure that all shop support programming represents the most efficient way to process the parts
- Support the manufacturing engineering needs for all shifts
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by the Director of Operations
- Provide significant project support for all areas as directed by my senior management.

- Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
- Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects
- Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
- Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Process, Mechanical Engineering, or another related discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
Prerequisite Skills and Work Experience
- Prior experience working with manufacturing processes, procedures, product flow, and equipment
- Prior experience working with and implementing continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Mfg.)
- Prior experience working with BOMs, routings, and time and motion studies required to set standards
- Proficiency in written, verbal, presentation, and telephone communications skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel & PowerPoint
