About the job Plant Supervisor and Process Improvement Lead Our client is looking to hire a Production Supervisor (Day Shift) and a Process Improvement Lead in Hanover, MD:Production SupervisorEssential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides guidance and leadership to production, quality, maintenance and warehouse drivers during shift hours.Ensures adherence to safety, quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Quality Foods (SQF) and ISO standards and programs.Evaluates performance of team members, enforces policy and administers disciplinary action when necessary.Makes recommendations for improved and more efficient methods of operation.Controls rework and regrind levels.Determines utilization of workforce based on production demands.Responsible for accuracy of production reporting(JDE/ WEBEFF). Adheres to all manufacturing standards and production schedules.Effectively communicates company directives and plant information to staff via regular meetings.Coordinates production activities for manufacturing areas to ensure production goals of EFF and MEEF are achieved.Complete and submit production related paperwork.Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.Responsible for adhering to Food Safety Compliance.Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.Constant vigilance and participation in GMP and SQF practices.Assist in the prevention of nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality systems.Track, confirm and verify training for employees in the department and schedule training as needed and required.Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes or systems and very the implementation of solutions.Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived imminent safety risk.Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritizing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, or safety risks.Lead all required meetings with safety (ie. Pre-Shift, Departmental, Change Management, General Communications, Town Hall, etc.).Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.Ensure that all Quality, ISO and SQF Plans are understood and followed by staff.Confirm that all quality checks are being performed by all production personnel as established by the Quality Plans.Work closely with the quality inspectors and supervisor to identify and minimize quality defects and complaints.Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by providing definition of job duties.Provide training opportunities for staff.Conducting performance evaluations.Defining criteria for personnel succession planning.Administer coaching/counseling as required in a timely manner.Provide accurate attendance records to human resources indicating any point assessments.Enforce personnel policies and procedures and complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner.Maintain safe working conditions.Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.Actively participate in production management team meetings as requested.Recommend/justify equipment/tooling purchases.QualificationsDemonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and subordinates.Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. Process Improvement LeadResponsibilities-Responsible for achieving safety, quality, and productivity goals in the Molding Department.Assist in managing molding activities and provide direction and support for all shifts.Assist in directing activities of Molding Shift Supervisors, establish molding procedures, determine priorities and secure results through the creation of teams.Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes or systems and very the implementation of solutions.Responsible for employee development and improving overall performance.Drive cost saving initiatives, efficiency gains, and process improvements.Take a hands-on approach to increasing production capacity through improvements in scrap, run rates, and machine uptime. Work as a project leader focusing on specific production lines.Implement process improvements, SOPs, and PMs, to maximize production.Monitor the daily EFF and MEEF of the lines through personal involvement and data monitoring.Direct, hands-on involvement with low performing lines.Determine possible machine upgrades and replacements to improve production.Identify trends in production data and isolate variables to suggest root cause.Analyze quality data to center processes.Combine data from quality, production, tribal knowledge, and experimentation to generate actionable results.Train and coach company policies, safety standards, quality, GMPs and ISO procedures.Responsible for accurate production reporting (WebEFF) and other efficiency trackers as needed.Drive improvements in production efficiency with cost effective solutions.Direct work assignments and ensure efficient labor utilization.Other duties as assigned by Production Manager and or Plant Manager. Serves as the back up for the Production Manager.Qualifications-4-year degree or equivalent work experience.Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to motivate employees.Strong technical, business, and organizational skills.Able to plan and organize daily activities, analyze data and react to changes and challenges in the business.Knowledge of molding operations and company procedures.Able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.Good software skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Email Software, Financial Software Systems (JDE, WebEFF) etc.)Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms
