Job Summary:

The Plumbing Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the plumbing scope on projects.

Job Duties:

Creates conceptual plumbing models based on verbal direction or rough sketches from engineers or other designers. Incorporates standard notes and details for use in the construction documents.

Manages and incorporates electronic redlines from the Mechanical Engineer using established workflows.

Takes complete ownership of their portion of the plumbing scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.

Collaborate in a team environment with project management, construction, and engineering team members in a cross-functional setting to ensure design is accurate and that contract responsibilities are met according to the client's expectations.

Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, schematic design, design development and producing construction documents.

Take ownership over the plumbing scope, meeting schedule and budget requirements.

Apply basic knowledge of building codes and standards in the development of project designs.

Create conceptual plumbing designs based on verbal direction or rough sketches from construction Project Managers or other design team members.

Generate construction plumbing engineering drawings, including standard notes and details.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Comply with Company’s Quality Control and Project Management procedures.

Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally performed in an office. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will/ is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.

Professional Engineer License is preferred.

3-5 years of plumbing design experience is required.

Experience with Revit is required.

SCRUM Experience is preferred.

Lean Design and Construction experience is preferred.

Ability to apply engineering handbooks and manuals.

Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

Strong familiarity with REVIT (strongly preferred)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to travel.

Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.

Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
