Responsibilities The Logistics Planner, Rail will manage the daily planning and execution of rail logistics to our customers and network locations and will work directly with the rail team to measure carrier performance, improve transportation service, and eliminate waste. In this position, the individual will have frequent interaction with Ingredion plant locations, customer service, and sales & operations planning and will also participate in projects that will continuously improve Ingredion's service offering. Key Deliverables Handle railcar track & traceHandle car maintenance/repair coordinationCoordinate with tank car lessors on tank car maintenance and shoppingCoordinate with 3rd party vendors on maintenance projects/shopping of cars/invoice reviewEnsure rail carriers, Class I to short line, are servicing according to plan and expectationsCoordinate with Class 1 and short-line railroads on shutdown and delayed carsReview plant pipeline of cars, and divert cars as needed to ensure car availability at all PlantsAddress service issues and provide root cause analyses to resolve chronic internal or external problemsLeverage data visualization through Power BI to drive network insights and empower stakeholders with informationExecute with optimal cost and service offering; develop and manage key vendor metricsDevelop subject matter expertise in BDS RAILTRAC and Raven Logistics railcar trackingParticipate in special projects to drive continuous improvementCommunicate thoroughly and effectively to multiple internal and external stakeholdersProactively resolve urgent customer situations related to product deliveryWork with carriers to ensure the accuracy of freight billsAnticipate and proactively communicate delivery issues to customer serviceWork collaboratively with peers and others in a team environmentSelf-start as an individual contributor & team player and serve as a role model for the team in operational excellence The key requirements for the Logistics Planner role: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related fieldKnowledge of rail transportation or plant logistics preferredAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsExcellent verbal & written communication skills and interpersonal connectivityDemonstrated ability to dynamically plan with multiple stakeholdersAbility to learn a Transportation Management System (TMS)Previous related internship or work experience preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and SAP preferredWe are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
