About the Transportation Business Unit

The Transportation Business Unit provides transportation engineering services for all project types and scopes, from the largest interstate systems to local municipality roads. Some of the services provided include roadway and intersection design, corridor improvements, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, and environmental documentation. Our traffic, highway, structural, and environmental planning engineers work collaboratively to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and long-term transportation solutions.

What You'll Do:

The purpose of this position is to design complex interstate geometrics and local roads.Depending on your experience and skill level you will have the opportunity to lead a design team.There is opportunity for both immediate and long-term growth.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Perform roadway design and plan preparation for highway projects
  • Lead quality review processes and perform plan technical internal review to ensure plan quality
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to junior design staff
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation and negotiation of fee proposals
  • Prepare design schedules and construction cost estimates
  • Deliver staged submittals, documents and projects on time, within budget and per the scope of services
  • Recognize scope/contract changes and negotiate or assist in negotiation with the client to account for changes
  • Participate in presentations to clients, demonstrating the Company's technical credentials and expertise
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients
What You'll Bring:

We are looking for someone who has proven technical and personal skills that will thrive in a collaborative team environment. Additionally, we are looking for someone with the following:
  • Experience in design and preparation of plans for interstate and local road/street projects (ODOT design experience preferred)
  • Registered professional engineer (Ohio preferred)
  • Understanding AASHTO and FHWA standards (ODOT experience preferred)
  • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer software
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Has the ability to collaborate as part of a team but also works well independently
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior successful project management experience and development of technical proposals is a plus
  • Experience in a mentorship or management position is a plus
Educational Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Ohio or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Road and highway design experience required
