5+ years Indiana, United States $60k - $78.5k/year Full-time Remote 2 days ago About the role About the role Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an Accountant to join our growing team This is a REMOTE opportunity with sporadic travel (about once a month) to the home office in Carmel, IN. The accountant supports the office Controller and management with reports and summaries of collected, analyzed, and organized data to help make business decisions based on the information provided. In addition, this individual performs tasks in other accounting areas, such as month end reporting, accounts receivable/payable, bank reconciliations, and budgeting. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Run monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year end claim reports in the Claims Enterprise claim system, then analyze and prepare summaries of the information collected on spreadsheets with loss ratios and lost cost ratios for management. Run various reports in the Verity system monthly and during the month (when requested by management) for various studies, then examine and put the information together in summary form on Excel spreadsheets for management. Gather and analyze revenue for the IPEP budget. Assist in preparation of IPEP expense budget. Provide explanations on variances coordinating with team leaders utilizing the Statement of Expenses. Reconcile bank statements (IPEP, and EPIC) to the general ledger accounts as of month end. Prepare various financial spreadsheets for the IPEP board meetings (quarterly). Reconcile general ledger accounts to the Claims Enterprise system for IPEP. Prepare trend analysis at fiscal year-end for the actuary using payroll exposure reports and Claims Enterprise claim data (paid, incurred, claim counts, reinsurance, etc) put together on spreadsheets for each fiscal year going back to IPEP inception. Prepare the IPEP Fund Year Detail from inception to date for IPEP management and the actuary. Analyze the NCCI rates (when they are released from NCCI) and prepare a spreadsheet for IPEP management comparing and analyzing in various ways last years and the current year’s NCCI and IPEP rates for management to determine the new ‘IPEP rates’ for the upcoming year. Prepare loss evaluations for individual IPEP class codes approximately quarterly or as needed by IPEP management. Prepare various other special projects and evaluations of IPEP data for management as requested.
