A well established construction company with offices in Paramount, CA is seeking an experienced Estimator for a full-time, permanent role with their organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extremely organized with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction practices in refineries, power plants and industrial environments.
  • Must be able to create and provide timely, clear, and complete progress and cost reports to clients and management.
  • Excellent ability to use PC and spreadsheet templates to write memos, emails, change orders and other communications with management, clients, and vendors.
  • Bachelors degree in mathematics, economics, operations research, engineering, or construction management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years experience estimating construction projects in the 2k-250k range

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in job walks to identify scope of work to be performed, change orders, crafts, and manpower needs.
  • Review bid packages in detail including bid documents, plans, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Gather, analyze, and organize information on complex projects and work to be performed by reviewing scope of work to determine manpower needs and costs, equipment and materials costs and subcontractor resources and supply sources.
  • Perform and provide clear take offs from drawings, plans and blueprints.
  • Use project planning software to build project schedules.
  • Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices.
  • Meet with managers and supervisors to review bid estimate and project plans.
  • Resolve performance/cost discrepancies by requesting change orders, reviewing data, and discussing productivity and costs with Superintendents/Project Managers.
