Principal Product Manager

Waystar is seeking a smart and creative Principal Product Manager with hands-on experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management. The ideal candidate will build great products, make practical decisions, and lead large-scale, cross-departmental strategic product initiatives. This role reports to the VP of Product Management and collaborates with the User Experience and Technology teams. The Principal Product Manager will coordinate with stakeholders in sales, marketing, design, development, and operations to drive new-to-market and existing solutions within Waystars Product team. The position requires understanding the significant flaws in the healthcare market and a passion for solving those problems. What Youll Do Analyze market trends, user behavior, product inputs, and customer requirements; design solution architectures and build the business case for new product development. Prepare software design plans including product requirements documents (PRD), use case documentation, jobs-to-be-done, and user interface wireframes, independently or with the User Experience team. Define system requirements with internal and external resources to meet changing market needs and ensure customer satisfaction and product quality. Coordinate with sales, marketing, development, and customer support to align divergent ideas behind a single product vision. Manage the product roadmap with documentation of strategy, backlog maintenance, prioritization, and coordination of launches. Organize market research by analyzing customer segments, reviewing industry reports, and assessing competitors. Study healthcare industry standards and stay up to date on industry changes and compliance issues. Gather inspiration by visiting customers and reviewing products that solve similar problems in other domains. Collect direct customer feedback through user tests, customer support incidents, surveys, and field observations. What Youll Need Hands-on executor who rolls up their sleeves to get things done. Ability to present complex information clearly in a whiteboard setting. Experience leading a cross-functional team through the entire product development lifecycle to deliver value to clients, partners, and Waystar. At least 4 years of software build experience and leadership of end-to-end builds for at least 2 large-scale product initiatives brought to market. Understanding of hospital and professional coding and billing workflows and the provider reimbursement process, from direct healthcare experience or a Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) focused HIT company. Leadership on a team that designed, built, or used Revenue Cycle Management products. Strong market research skills and ability to analyze customer segments and industry trends. Robust technical fundamentals for building software; strong problem-solving skills and creativity. Attention to detail with a focus on usability and customer experience. Excellent written communication; ability to convey complex ideas succinctly. Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate, negotiate, and persuade stakeholders; effective progress communication and celebration of successes. Flexibility and agility to adapt to changing situations. College degree required; Business or Computer Science degree preferred.
