What you will do

Join our business process and operations improvement consulting team at McConnell Jones. At McConnell Jones, we stand as a distinguished and nationally renowned firm specializing in accounting, business consulting, and advisory services. We are business, consulting and accounting experts who excel in resolving challenges, mitigating risk and enhancing business performance. Backed by unmatched expertise in the field, we deliver solutions honed through years of proven experience, addressing a wide spectrum of business and organizational issues. Our consulting practice is dedicated to enabling our clients to achieve operational efficiently and with cost-effectiveness.

In this pivotal hands-on role, you'll engage with diverse industries and clients, harnessing your analytical and critical thinking prowess to deeply comprehend client processes. You'll interview client personnel, prepare process maps documenting the "as is" and to be state of business processes, write narratives documenting tasks, perform process walkthroughs, benchmark processes against industry best practices, conduct gap analyses, develop improvement recommendations, and assist with writing policies and procedures for administrative and operating units. Leveraging your skills in process mapping, process flow diagramming, and proficient writing, you'll effectively communicate solutions. This is an opportune moment to join our consulting team, as we're in an expansion phase, offering you the chance to evolve alongside us.

Analytical Expertise Utilize data analysis to drive informed business decisions and achieve optimal outcomes. Display adeptness in conducting interviews, taking comprehensive notes, and analyzing data. Define project tasks and ascertain resource requirements. Efficiently execute tasks defined in work plans that include project timelines and budgeted level of effort. Use Microsoft Excel and other data analytics based on project objectives.

Collaboration and Communication Work with project teams under the guidance, direction, and oversight of senior consultants and consulting directors. Showcase ability to work with other team members towards a common goal. Maintain relationships with client management and supervisory personnel. Assist with setting mutually agreed project goals and executing effective implementation strategies for process improvement recommendations. Communicate effectively with project teams and clients to ensure a collaborative approach.

Compliance and Security As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.

Qualifications

What you will need Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in performance auditing, consulting, and external client interactions. 3-4 years of demonstrated consulting experience, including performance auditing, across diverse industries. Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines. Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on achieving tangible outcomes for specific projects. Expertise in working on teams effectively. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in using Artificial Intelligence tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot. Proficient report writing skills. Possess effective verbal communication and interviewing skills. Willingness to travel as needed.

What we prefer Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). A combination of public sector and private sector experience. Performance auditing experience. Experience assisting with evaluating business processes with municipal, county, and state government entities.
