Status: Reports to Asst. Deli Manager/ Food Services Manager

Purpose: To provide efficient daily workflow at deli counter; to oversee exceptional presentation of the

deli counter areas; and to assist Deli Manager in meeting department goals for customer

service, sales, margins and turns goals.

Customer Service:

• Ensure excellent customer service by all staff

Product Knowledge:

• Be proficient in all sub departments

Product Presentation and Quality:

• Maintain a well-organized department. Oversee quality of all products.
• Merchandise deli counter/ retail areas as needed.
• Maintain attractive and well- stocked deli cases, rotation of product, monitor product dates and maintain proper signage
• Contribute to positive sales growth ie; arrange sampling and daily specials

Maintenance and Conditioning:

• Maintain cleaning schedules for deli counter
• Plan and oversee cleaning projects
• Maintain and monitor equipment.

Safety:

• Ensure health department regulations are followed in all deli procedures

Teamwork:

• Oversee daily work flow of deli counter in including but not limited to: set up, production, customer

service, sales, ware washing, cleanup and closing.

• Supervise deli counter staff
• Evaluate and give feedback for reviews of deli counter staff
• Ensure training of new hires and ongoing training for current staff ie: monitor portion, shrink, and quality controls
• Assist in development of training materials for counter staff
• Coordinate service area needs with the Deli Kitchen Supervisor

• Schedule counter staff - Ensure adequate coverage of staff daily
• Coordinate and participate in deli & store meetings
• Assist in quarterly inventory processes
• Maintain open communication between counter staff, commissary staff and Deli Management
• Assign work lists, evaluate efficiencies, perform regular follow-up.
• Assist in quarterly inventory processes

Accountability:

• Monitor shrink
• Utilize logbook, shrink log, transfer logs
• Accept responsibility for own actions. Exemplify honesty, integrity and ethics.

Job Specific Functions:

• Assist management in meeting sales, margin and turn goals
• Facilitate catering orders
• Order and receive products for counter operations.
• Promptly address returns and credits.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Relevant supervisory experience. Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer proficiency(Microsoft, Excel)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
• Food Service (serve safe) Certification
• Buying/ordering experience
• Ability to work with a team to achieve departmental/ store goals
• Experience with natural foods
• English proficiency
