Company Overview:
Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's; there are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the operations of the Accounting Department including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, labor productivity, fixed asset, cost accounting systems, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls and audits. This position will also monitor and produce reports for charges, billing, A/R, cash receipts and collections.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages month-end close process. Prepares general/standard journal entries, financial statements.
- Prepares schedules and assists with annual financial audit, payroll audit, 401k audit, tax returns, Cost Reports and other governmental agency filings as required.
- Research accounting/financial issues and provides solutions. Investigates variances from budget or plan.
- Responsible for budgeting, overall cost control, inventory and supply control, position control and other financial matters as directed.
- Prepares and submits quarterly forecasts and the annual Operating Budget.
- Approves the purchases of hospital expenses in accordance with policies and procedures. Identifies cost control and cost management issues and recommends actions to resolve.
- Works with Senior Leadership to develop a criterion-based selection process to prioritize capital needs.
- Works with Senior Leadership in the review of new and existing product lines, contracts and business ventures to provide in depth cost and financial analysis and make recommendations regarding financial issues.
- Monitors and reviews hospital AR on a daily basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required; Master's Degree preferred.
- CPA highly desired
- Must have experience working as a lead or in a supervisory role
- Experience with cost accounting in hospital setting strongly preferred
- Knowledge of FASB Accounting Procedures
- Previous experience working with Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party reimbursement systems
- Knowledge of standard accounting practices and principles including balance sheets, journal entries and month-end close process
- Strong Analytical skills with high-level attention to detail
- Expertise in MS Excel and strong numerical/mathematical aptitude
- Solid communication and leadership skills including the ability to effectively manage others and direct work
