How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Distribution Manager is responsible for all phases of distribution including daily truck routing (inter-company shuttles, trailer and bulk deliveries), monitoring delivery vehicle maintenance, recordkeeping, and driver safety oversight. The Distribution Manager is responsible for maximizing delivery service in a safe and efficient manner. Supervises drivers and coordinates special requirements with Plant Manager and shift leads.

Directly supervises drivers providing leadership regarding safe work habits. Manages availability of drivers and equipment, including all vehicle maintenance requirements, to insure that adequate resources are available to meet

distribution/customer

needs.

Controls distribution costs and maximizes service response through balancing of daily routes and overall system optimization.

Provides safety and compliance training to meet Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety & Health Agency (OSHA), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Airgas organization-wide requirements.

Drives continuous improvement in daily distribution operations. Champions distribution efficiency initiatives for the location, including demand leveling.

Develops, documents and trains employees on Standard Operating Processes (SOPs).

Reviews and processes daily all Department of Transportation (DOT) documentation; vehicle condition reports and drivers hours of service, route efficiency and completion.

Reviews incoming orders for accuracy and unusual requirements. Communicates unusual requirements for production planning. Reviews returned trips for paperwork accuracy and completeness, and unfulfilled orders. Reviews open orders for status and closure.

Prepares daily local and inter-branch delivery schedule for cylinders and bulk.

Prepares load sheets, delivery tickets and manifests and highlights any critical customer requirements. Insures loads are accurate and complete.

Responds to inquiries from sales, customer service and branches regarding delivery status, capabilities and any emergency delivery requirements.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

College degree in supply chain management, logistics management or related field preferred.

Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or distribution operation.

Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a distribution environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of truck routing and shipping of hazardous materials.

Knowledge of DOT regulations and FDA requirements.

Working knowledge of SAP strongly preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include prior experience using Outlook, Word and Excel.

Self-starter, self-motivated, independent, well-organized with attention to detail.

Team player with positive attitude; strong collaborative skills; ability to influence without having direct authority.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, comprehend and articulate technical procedures, governmental regulations, MSDS, safety rules, manufacturer operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status of position. Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships.

Strong analytical skills; competency for understanding metrics and ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization and external customers.

Leadership skills; Identifies requirements; allocates, and effectively uses information, personnel, time, and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives, schedules, and priorities.

Math skills; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Must be customer service oriented and able to interact in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.

Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
